The criteria for being served for a specific disability type are not provided due to the different criteria states set for students with disabilities to be served for specific disability types.

To calculate the percent of people age 6-21 years served in a state under IDEA for a specific disability type, divide the number served for the specific disability type by the total number served by IDEA in the state and multiply the result by 100. Example: Calculate the percent of people in Mississippi served for speech or language impairments. This calculation would be: 16,230/55,547=.2292 and .2292x100=22.92%
